Discover this civilization while visiting the archaeological site of Joya de Cerén, declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1993, also called the Pompeii of America, for its valuable contribution to the knowledge of present civilization, in the site admire a pre-Columbian Maya farming village preserved remarkably intact under layers of volcanic ash this because the village was buried by volcano eruption around A.D. 600.
Later transfer towards the archaeological site of San Andrés, a very important political and religious centre, the acropolis has diverse structures for the use of the governors during that period, the most emblematic is the estructure 5 , best known as “La Campana”, due his particular shape, the site was buried due to the eruption of the Playón volcano in 1658 AD, preserving the Colonial indigo production almost intact.
In the afternoon visit the city of Santa Ana, one of the most important cities in El Salvador, in the so-called “golden age of coffee”, Santa Ana was the most prosperous city in the country. Take a panoramic tour, visiting the Theatre, National Palace and its beautiful Cathedral, which was designed to look like a Gothic cathedral in contrast to the Spanish Colonial Style of most of the cathedrals of El Salvador and the rest of Latin America.
Last but not least, Tazumal situated near from Chalchuapa City, is an pre-Columbian Mayan architectural complex with the largest pyramid in El Salvador, the city was a sophisticated and important settlement where have been founded inclusive sculptures and metal artefacts.
